Ok i'm stuck.  I had a viper 791xv remote start system installed on my 2005 ex, works great.  Only problem is the factory keyless entry remote included a button for popping the liftgate glass, which consequently is the only way to open it.  Enter in my prob, the 791xv doesn't pop the liftgate glass.  long story short, after some research (in large found on this forum... thanks) i determined i needed a relay to get this function working through the 791xv.

Here's the problem, i found the hatch release wire (purple / YELLOW, in rr of truck), determined the hatch release trigger from the 791xv to be the RED / white wire (H1/12 I believe), which supplies a (-)200mA output trigger.  I wired up a relay using the following:

86 12V+

30 12V+

85 (-)200mA trigger from alarm (RED / white wire)

87 purple / YELLOW liftgate glass release wire

when i push the star button on the 791xv remote (to activate the channel 2 validity output) nothing happens.  What am i doing wrong here?

your wiring is correct,
TRUNK RELEASE        ORANGE / LIGHT GREEN (+) or PURPLE / YELLOW (+)
see if you got an ORANGE / light green wire near where you found your first wire.
dont forget to test the wire with a dmm

i tried looking for the ORANGE / lt gr wire under the drivers seat and couldn't find it there.  i'll check the harness i'm working in for that wire too.  As for the purple / YELLOW, i did test that one and when i trigger the liftgate glass with the stock remote it does read 12V+ and releases the liftgate glass; disconnect the wire and nothing happens, so i'm pretty sure i've got the right wire there.  As for the alarm wire i'm going strictly off the wiring diagram that came with the 791, which indicates its the RED / white wire in the H1 harness.  I don't know how to test that one for the (-)200mA trigger though.

could i have damaged the relay when wiring it up or something?

The DEI systems require you to hold the aux button in for 1.5seconds to activate the channel 2 output (the RED / white wire).
