Ok I installed an RS-620 on my 2004 Pontiac Grand AM GT.... It has power locks but no alarm or keyless entry..... I used a periphrial to unlock the doors and the trunk, how ever my remote start does not work nor does the valet seem to work either.... When I try to do the programming using the valet the led nor the horn lett me know if the system was programmed.....the horn and lights work when locking/unlocking the car.... I was told by periphrial.com that I did not need to install the hood pin. the instuction tell to ground the neutral safety switch wire. i was told not to hook up the instant start turn off input, but I feel that is what the problem is....as I said everything else works, all features of the door lock/unlock work ei.... panic, lights, horn, trunk, that all works well... What am I missing.... Anyone that can help it would be cool... I might add that I can do car audio/video, so my frustration level is high....

Who makes the RS-620? Sounds kind of like an AutoPage part number, but hard to tell. And what Peripheral piece did you use?

At any rate, yes, the remote start should work with the hoodpin uninstalled, and the neutral-safety wire permanently grounded.

Some manufacturers require that you open the hood as part of the programming procedure...........if that is in your programming instructions, you'd have to use a jumper wire to simulate the hood being opened.

Also, did you program the tachometer rate? Almost all brands require that you do this before they will work at all. If you're planning on using voltage sensing instead of a tachometer connection, you'd need to go into your remote starter's programming menu and turn tach sensing off.

(By the way, I've seen a good number of Grand Ams come back; they don't seem to like voltage sense, but you might get away with it.)

The "instant start" or "activation" input is simply to allow some other device to activate the remote starter. (Such as another alarm system, or a satellite receiver that allows you to start the car with a phone call.) On basic installations, this isn't needed.

Since your locks/trunk/panic are working, obviously your antenna ground, power, etcetera are ok. Most likely a programming issue.

I have the Autopage.....And the periphrial PGMDLBP which was confirmed by both Periphrial Electronics and HiFi Sound Connection has the correct Periphrial.... I have varified that all connections are sound with my volt..... You mentioned the programming. I believe that this is where the problem lies.... when I follow the program instructions I do mot get the LED flash nor the confermation beep telling me of a sucessesful program.... What am I doing wrong???? Please help me one more time....

Unplug the module and leave it unplugged for a minute, plug it back in, now the led should be blinking. push the program button 1 time , now you should see the led blink 2 times it will continue to blink in intervals of 2meaning you have selected platform 2 for your Grand am, Now press and hold the button on the module, the led should blink 1 more time now that your still holding the button in, release the button led should be solid, start the car with the key and it should program. This is how you program the gmdl-bp, as far as your remote start I have not installed and auto page in my life so I can't halp ya.

yeahhhhhh.... I figured it out..... What had happened is when I reinstalt the ignition the secondary ingition had come loose.... I made it a better connection and it works great.... All systems go.....

No offense but if any of your connections "came loose" on the same day you installed it, you should go back and redo all your connections to save from future issues.

That is why I solder- never had one come loose!!!
