I just installed a ultrastart 2256M in a 2005 scion TC w/Manual transmission.  The install went well, but when I put the car in reservation Mode the car almost always stalls out when the remote starter takes over (key is still in the ignition).  The RPM's just drop and most of the time it stalls.  If by chance it doesn't stall, the car will go into reservation mode, and remote start and run fine.  I can't get the car to stop stalling out, it stalls 9 times out of ten!!

I hit both starter wires, Ignition 1 and 2,  and the 1 accessory.  I don't think any of that is the problem because the key is still in the ignition keeping the wires powered.

I got the tach at the diagnostic plug(black wire). The ultrastart accepts the tach, and confirms.  I don't know if this is the problem either because if I can get it in reservation mode it will start just fine!

I'm just not very familiar  with ultastarters and this reservation mode on manuals, any help would be greatly appreciated!! Is there anything anybody can think of that would cause this?

Thanks, Frank

where did you put the jumper in the yellow brain? out of curiosity. I have installed a dozen of the 2256m models and close to forty ultrastarters all together, and havent crossed anything like that yet. in fact my first problem ever was this weekend. Bad unit I think.I'll keep thinking on this one. let me know.

did youjust run the one yellow start wire from the r/s to both starter wires? if so did you connect the white wire to the second ign.?

ok, I used the jumper  at position 1 for the white wire to do starter 2(so they are isolated not jumped together) I also  used the WHITE/ violet ground while running wire to trigger 4 things(diode isolated of coarse) 1 the 556u bypass, 2 keysense to disarm the OEM security, the clutch bypass, 4 the ignition 2 relay I added.I actually used the WHITE/ violet wire to a relay for a stronger ground to provide to the 4 items I needed to run.For connections, I strip, I poke, I solder, I tape twice.  Do you think I'm losing ignition 2 in reservation mode? I will need to check that with my meter.  Do you know if that happens with ultrastarts? Like I said, if I can get it into reservation mode without it stalling, the remote starter starts fine.  No engine lights or anything. Perfect.

Thanks, Frank

I think that your problem lies in your relay set up for the second ignition. measure to be surewith your dmm.what i would do is use the jumper for second ignition, and use your relay for second starter. pin 87   12 v fused pin 30  second start wire. pin 86 tap into your start wire from the r/s  pin 85 chassis ground. I think that would work. should cure your prob. assuming that you programmed your 556u properly.  As far as the r/s unit goes it keeps power to all wires during reservation mode as well as start sequence.  you need a key left in the 556u  at all times right? sometimes just reinserting the key might take care of something like this. Trivial I know but you never know! from the sounds of it you have done everything proper.the only thing I would do different is the relay. Good luck, and keep me posted.

u really didnt need to use a relay u could have used the WHITE/ violet for 2 things diode isolate and the orange wire programmed to do the 3rd and the keysence u really rarly need. but use a omega pass4 has a keysence output with the transponder bypass.

I needed the keysense also, the car has a factory alarm in it.  I read that the output on the WHITE/ violet was only 250mA. I figured that wasn't enough current for the 4 thing I needed to power up. But, I really don't think it has anything to do with the ignition wires, because the key is still in the ignition cylinder turned when you put the car in reservation mode.  So, the key is keeping everything powered not the remote starter.  I can see looking into the ignition wires if it stalled when I removed the key.  It's stalling as soon as the starter takes over with the key still turned. Now I haven't been able to look at the car again yet(its sooo damn cold here now!!) but here are a fer ideas I had to look at.  Tell me what you guys think.

1) Double check ground and possibly relocate.

2) Maybe try an injector wire for tach instead of the wire at the diagnostic plug.

#3 is the one I think it is!

3) Hook up the keysense wire on the universal bypass kit.  I think when it does an ignition take over the car is seeing 2 keys at once and stalling. I just have to make sure I diode isolate the keysense wire so the bypass only cuts off with the key in and not when the starter is trying to disarm the car.

Can you ultrastarter installers think of anything else that might be going on?  Anyone agree/disagree with what I've come up with so far to check?

Frank

so if I read that correct, you are stalling out with the key in the ignition, and turned to run? That is strange. even when the r/s unit is engaged through reservation mode, the car  is still powered through its own ignition. some how the key sense must be getting some kind of feedback. If you are using the 556u, you shouldn't need the extra key sense wire hooked up. I bet thats it. disconnect that and try it. your tach source is good if the 2256 accepted it. I know from experiance that it wont work at all without a good source. ground isn't an issue if your unit is powering up, and you have proper functions of locks etc...
