Hi everyone, I have a major issue with my remote starter. I have been installing the ford "silver" remote starter/ keyless entry in my 2006 milan. I also have the specified PATS bypass kit for the ford silver unit.
long story short the unit is installed exactly per the instructions. Everything works perfectly, the doors unlock, the horn chirps, etc. but I am about to pull my hair out with this PATS stuff.
The instructions state that I am to "cut off" the white wire comming from the pigtail of the PATS bypass and tape it away, then simply wrap the "antenna" portion of the bypass near the PATS antenna with two sided tape, and plug in the connector to the silver unit.
once it is installed, to set the interface, the instructions say to turn the ignition on with one key, after the theft light goes off, to use a second key to turn the ignition and let the theft light go off.. after that to use the remote to start the car. the only thing my unit will do is act like it is going to start the car, and then honk the horn twice and abort the start process. If I place a key in the ignition, and use the remote starter it starts up perfectly.
for some reason it is NOT programming the pats interface. I have tried everything I can possibly think of short of getting a new interface unit. I have repositioned the PATS antenna portion probably 20 times. I have ENSURED that the little black box for the interface/bypass is NO WHERE NEAR metal. I have tried and tried again to program the unit using their instructions and it simply is not working for some reason. Their "insightful" troubleshooting process tells you to basically make sure you are doing the two key/ start sequence within 5 minutes of each other if it doesnt take, and I have tried for 3 hours to get this thing to program using every tactic I can imagine, doing the keys as quickly as possible, slowly, etc.
does anyone have any tips or ideas as to why the PATS on this car will not work on my interface? Am I not using the correct interface unit? It is the ford unit specified for this car. Is the white wire supposed to go to anything or are the instructions correct in stating it is to be taped and cut? Is there some special "mode" I should be in while doing this? is my bypass just messed up??
Thanks in advance!

I am using the powercode/ ford unit and the specified PATS unit for this if that helps anyone. (securilock kit 3, 1L2Z-19G365-AB)
from what I have read the PATS system can just be down right finicky in some cars :(
I also uncovered some new troubleshooting info from powercode that claims for my symptoms I should check the PATS bypass wiring (I already did that and it isnt broken) OR make sure that the unit is set to the right key input polarity. I havent verified this, so I guess its worth a shot, but still very doubtful that this is my problem.
speaking of aftermarket bypasses, is it possible to use one with my powercode remote starter? It has its own little input socket for its specified bypass so im not sure that any others will fit in the control module?

What I have done when you get to the step of trying to remote start it to learn the module is use a jumper wire to put 12 volts to the ignition wire to make the module program.. instead of trying the remote starter.. You can just use a wire from your constant 12 volt wire of your starter and connect it to you ignition wire after you have inserted the second key and and the security light goes out. Remove the second key and the jump the igniton..

Ok, I finally got it fixed. the key sense input polarity was wrong, it is actually negative for those of you with milans/ fusions/ zyphers/ mazda 6's.
really surprised me as I figured the DNA module would default that setting since it is application specific. I just switched the input polarity to negative, and the car started right up, so the PATS module was programmed correctly last night when I was playing with it.
thanks again guys
