Code Alarms/Starter systems?

Has anyone ever delt with these things? I just learned that my company decided to bring in some of these units. I dont have the model number but its a 2 way combo unit that comes with a remote with a text based LCD screen on it. The thing looks like its gonna retail in the 500-550 installed range. I breifly glanced at it and it seems to be some bastardized version of a automobility, compustar, DEI love triangle. Im not real excited about new product when it comes to starters because I like installing what I know works, or at least the devil I know, so any feedback on these things would be appreciated.double-secret reverse-osmosis speaker-cone-induced high-level interference distortion, Its a killer

you are refering to the CA680 (aka audiovox aps-998). its the same brain they have been using, and its sturdy. if you are talking about how the new remote looks funky, i agree. (looks like a stop watch) havent used the new remote, but all of audiovox/code alarm (or whatever name you want to call it) is robust, and not cheap junk. cant believe you never worked with one of these units, there is a large variety of different names and model number, but same brain not hard to adapt to, especially if you have been doing dei alarm (similar wiring codes) Article page 1 Article page 2Note: You Always Dont Get What You Pay For.

I like working with Code products, really like the selectable door lock interface, dont need as many relays. Get a rf programmer, like the bitwriter, makes programming easier.

Yes, I agree with the others here. Audiovox product is great. Reliable, priced right, installer friendly. On the remote starters, the ignition wires are a little stiff and cheap-feeling, but not too bad once you get used to them. As the others have said, the installation manual is just terrible. If you follow the programming instructions to the letter, you'll be fine, but they are poorly written. The regular Audiovox 2-way remotes don't seem to last forever. (But they're a good company, and they warranty them.) Maybe this new dot-matrix one, with the rubber housing, will be more durable.
