just installed a R/S unit in this vehicle yesterday.     Customer called this aft saying his outside temp readout up on the roof headliner is now reading -40C all the time..... anyone run across this before or have any idea what might cause this?

I ran into this problem today with an 07 that had factory security.  I posted up a relay wiring diagram for the 07 Rams that didn't have a Starter wire a couple of days ago.  Well, like always I wired an 07 Ram up today like I did before with the relay and onboard relay and all seemed fine.  Except when I turned the key to the on position after a remote start, the starter in the vehicle would grind and the -40 temp was on aswell.  Here is how I got it fixed:

Relay 1

  • 86:  12V
  • 87:  ground through 560 ohm resistor
  • 87a:  key side of PURPLE / brown wire at ignition harness
  • 85:  programmable output (-) Accessory from RS
  • 30:  to 87a of programmable relay on the AstroStart

Onboard Relay

  • 87:  ground through 180 ohm resistor
  • 87a:  to pin 30 of the relay above
  • 30:  to the car side of the PURPLE / brown wire at ignition harness

This is the first time I ever had to actuallyb cut the PURPLE / brown wire.  I also had to program a pulse before start with one of my programmable outputs with an 8.5 kohm resistor inline and run that to the CAR SIDE of the PURPLE / brown wire at the ignition harness for disarm and to get rid of the -40 on the temperature readout.  Again, this was for an 07 Ram that DIDN'T have a starter wire.  Since you mentioned yours was an 06, and im guessing it did have the starter wire, so you probably didn't wire up any relays, maybe just used a module.  You might be able to get away with pulsing the PURPLE / brown wire through an 8.5 resitor as pulse before (disarm).

i used an XK03 programmed as CHDL7... it shuts down the factory security and looks after 2nd starter/2nd accessory (plus locks).....

could it be this data module causing the problem?
