< >Hello guys, I need to know somenthing.  Is my understanding that VATS/PASSLOCK inmobilizer if you dont have the correct chip or resistor on the key, the Vats/Passlock will disable the fuel system and not allow the engine to start.  If you try to start with the incorrect chip or resistor, you will hear that the car starter is cranking but since there is no fuel since the fuel system is disabled, the engine will not start.  IS THIS IS RIGHT?
< >I am asking this because if you are intalling a remote starter, why intead of installing a Vats/Passlock bypass module, you just not interfase the wire that power the fuel pump to allow it to work during the remote starter is cranking the engine?
< >For example, most of the RS has a ground when running output wire thats provides a ground when the remote start is engaged to activate the aftermarket security bypass module.............So why not conect this ouput to a relay and power the fuel pump?

it takes 2 seconds to just snip the vats wires and put a relay and a resistor on them....and it works flawlessly. Also if the car has passlock 2, you would probably get a service light if you did what you are saying. Most cars probably would be a lot more complicated than just powering up the fuel pump, it's never that simple. I find that the modules are remarkably easy to install, and very reliable. If you're looking to save money....you can do passlock 1 or 2 with just resistors and relays.
