What is causing her not to start the car is a starter kill relay.  The keyless entry remote engages the relay and allows the starter to be powered.  There may be a valet button if it is an aftermarket alarm, but i have never seen one on a factory antitheft system.  You should be able to tell if it is aftermarket or factory by looking at the remote.  I would suggest to have the unit looked at by a shop and if the unit is faulty to have them remove the starter kill relay.
