I have a premade relay that came with my compustar alarm. I have the relay wired up like the "Normally Closed Starter Kill Relay" diagram found on this site. This is for a 95' gmc sierra. The truck will start if the alarm is disarmed but not armed. Do I need a different type of relay for this make/model? I know the doors required a special relay to work properly.

Also, there is a secondary starter relay that came with the alarm that I have not used. Am I supposed to use this? If so, how?

Thanks

For got to mention that this secondary relay can be used for a 2nd ignition. Is this necessary?

Is this a remote start alarm or just a alarm? What model is the brain?

Sorry...when I say "start" I am refering to remote starting the truck.

So it is a remote start alarm, what model# is the brain? It sounds like you have the start wire (green IIRC) on the wrong side of the starter kill relay. If it is on the key side of the prewired starter kill relay, when the alam is armed, it will not allow the vehicle to start. Move it to the vehicle side of the relay. Always post as much info on the vehicle as possible. Without knowing the vehicle and the exact model # of the unit, it is a guess at best to what the issue is and if you do indeed need to use the 2nd ignition etc.

Dude, I have twice asked for the model# of the brain although now I am going to assume it is the CM3000. I have asked once for the vehicle this is going into. YOU MUST ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS. Right now it sounds like you have the starter wire (green) on the wrong side of the starter kill relay.

Now if say this is in a GM pickup and you do not do the 2nd ignition line, you will cause a failure of the transmission and a huge repair bill. So when questions are asked, please answer them so that a proper response can be given.

The starter wire in the ignition harness is Yellow. There is a starter wire(yellow) & starter kill wire (purple) coming from the alarm. I have yellow on the ignition side & purple on the starter side (Followed the relay diagram mentioned above). When you say start wire, are you refering to the starter output wire? Currently, its on the starter side of the relay.

2nd ignition is a must. It still sounds like the starter wire from the brain is on the wrong side of the relay for some reason. Wire in the second ignition line and retest. Good thing you posted about the vehicle, that minor slip up just saved you a $1500 repair bill on a new transmission (no kidding here either). Some GM vehicles also require a 3rd ignition. Once you get this thing running, remote start it, take it for a drive and pay close attention to how the tranny shifts. If it is not shifting properly, turn it off and start it with the key. It should shift fine again. That is a indication that another circuit needs to be powered up from the remote start brain.
