Hi everyone. I hope someone can help. I am trying to locate a tach signal for a clifford intellistart 4 on a 2003 phase 2 renault clio V6. I have tried the dash dials but the signal is multiplexed and i cant use it. I have tried the coils, there are 2 wires going into each one but both measure +14v. I was expecting an AC voltage varying with revs. Any suggestions where else to look. The injectors on this vehicle are not easy to get at!

Ok bit of an update. I had my multimeter set to DC which was why i was getting 14v. Switching it to AC gives a reading that increases with revs on both cables. However connecting this to the black grey on intellistart 4 doesnt seem to work. I go into the installer grid to try and program rpm and nothing happens. I hear the chirps but nothing after 2 seconds. If i try to remote start with the tach connected i get two indicator flashes, hear the fuel pump start but the car doesnt turn over. If i try to remote start without the rpm cable attached it turns over starts and then cuts off after about 2 secs. It doesnt sound like the starter disengages... is this because there is no rpm feed? I dont have the cliffnet wizard. Can i turn off rpm monitoring without this or do you have any other suggestions?

You have a REALLY cool car there my friend, wish me could get em like that in the US. Sounds to me like a transponder issue. Does this car require any kind of a "bypass" module? (the one that simulates the key being in the ign.) Put the key in....don't turn it, then try the remote start with the key inserted in the ign.

If it starts....then at least you know the problem.  The symptoms you have given us would direct most to the transpnder ignition bypass.

Thanks, got to love the French for making them! Didnt know you didnt have them in the US! Doesnt make any difference with the key in when i attempt to remote start. Im attempting to correct a messed up install left to me by the last owner of the car. Basically what happened the alarm went off in the middle of the night once for no reason. It made all sorts of wierd noises and wouldnt turn off. When it eventually turned off the alarm had killed itself. I took it to a local clifford dealer who sent the brain to be repaired and told me that the alarm had been incorrectly fitted. They charged me £200 for a new siren and the brain repairing but I kept having problems with it. Rather than keep paying to have it half repaired I got a wiring diagram and set about sorting it myself. Found they hadnt even bothered to plug in the proximity sensor!! The frustrating thing is the last owner of the car paid big money for the alarm and to have it properly fitted £750!

I dont think the car needs a byepass anymore because the factory alarm has been upgraded to the clifford but to be honest im not 100% sure. The second of my coded keys doesnt have the chip in it anymore so maybe this has been done. How would it connect to the clifford if this is the case though? Would it connect remotely and get some sort of signal from the brain?
