Got a Compustar Pro Alarm/Starter installed recently and today I am having a bit of a problem. When I try to remote start my car, it will try to crank 3 times (ignition turns on, then tries to start, fails , and ignition shuts off. repeats 3 times) and then shows "Error 08" on the remote. I can lock/unlock vehicle and start with the car key no problem. Anybody had a problem like this?

Not familiar with that unit, but Do you have tach hooked up? cause is souns like you have voltage sensem but crank time isnt long enough. Verify all wires with a DMM and go from there.

Hook up the Tach and program, should take care of your problem. Might have more ideas if I had the Kind of Car you are working with

it's 01 Acura CL. someone mentioned on another forum that when the bypass module malfunctions it would crank but wouldn't start. maybe that's it.

If it were the bypass module, then it would actually start and run for a couple seconds before dying.  You need to have a tach signal so the alarm knows how long to crank the engine.  That unit may have voltage sensing capabilities that will work also.

Did you program it for voltage sensing?  Default is using a tach.  If you did, then you may have to increase the crank time.  Just know that on really cold mornings, the longer crank times may still not be long enough.  This is why using the tach is the best route.  According to Directechs, it is a blue wire "The tach test connector is a 2 pin connector near the air intake on the driver side shock tower."

Hello Steven, I found the problem with my installer after doing a couple tests over the phone.
1. started the car with my key and then pressed and held the II button on the LCD remote. It chirped once meaning that there is a tach signal going in to the alarm.
2. When it tries to remote start the car I noticed the green key light on the dashboard flashes all the time meaning that the bypass module is not sending the proper signal to the ignition.
3. I inserted my key into ignition without turning it. And then tried to start the car and it started no problem. Did it 3 times just to make sure and then tried without it once again and no go without key.
So basically the car was cutting off fuel because it couldn't get the code from the bypass module. Over the weekend after which this happened someone else was operating my vehicle with the second remote and key. And I don't know whether the bypass went bad or got some codes confused in between primary and secondary keys and remotes.

Honda & Acura immobilizers work where it will crank but will not start and run. Make sure that when you program the bypass module, try either the GRAY or the BLACK key.
