ok i've been out of the game for a while and i'm a little fuzzy on relays...and today i am installed a DEI remote start/keyless entry unit on a 97 nissan pathfinder
got everything hooked up fine, it all works but i want to go ahead and power the second starter wire so he doesnt have trouble if it gets cold or whatever...i just need to know which pins go to what
i think it is
85 trigger from brain (negative output when remote started)
86 12v
30 12v
87 output (second starter wire)
is this right?
how would I do it with a 451M?? (yes i know its for doorlocks but i remember using it a few times for second starter when i didnt have any regular relays)
small green wire in 3-wire plug - trigger from brain(ground when started)
large green wire - output (second starter wire)
purple - 12v
white - 12v
??
thanks for any help

Your relay wiring is correct.

If you wish to use the 451m you can do it as follows and double the current handling.

Small green and blue to neg. out when remote start crank.

large GREEN/ blk and blue/blk to second start

large violet/blk to 12v constant

small red to 12v constant.

The WHITE/ blk and BROWN / blk are not used so insulate those.

Hope I helped.

oapy123: Just some advice. Get into the habit of using pin 30 on a relay as the output, and pin 87 as the source for ground, or 12volts. The resaon I suggest this is for when you need to "open" a wire with a relay when remote start is activated, and have it closed when the remote start is NOT in operation. This is the only way for instance to keep the daytime running lights on certain models from even coming on during remote start. That way you don't have to figure out how to shut them off. And when the car is started with the key, or after you get into the remotely started car and drive away, the running lights will work. The current of the wire will "pass thru" the relay by using pin 87a, and 30. If you get into the habit of using a relay confihgured a certain way everytime....life will be easier.

Just a thought my friendsecond starter relay, 97 pathfinder -- posted image.
