I bought a 508d for my 791xv...and was thinking about installing it myself..how hard would it be

I installed it..I tapped the red wire from the prox sensor to the red one from the shock sensor and the black ones to...then connected the blue and green to the blue on the shock sensor...was this the best way to do it?

Depending on people's individual perspecives, I have installed mind slightly different.

When I talked to an associate of mine (Prev. a DEI installer), he said it was completely possible to twist in the 508d and the Stinger on the same power output; He had done similar hacks the same way.

On my 04 mustang I tapped the GWA (Ground While Armed/Orange) wire off my 6500ESP, and ran (+) off a vehicle constant. HOWEVER, I also wired in a DPDT center-off micro-toggle, and a micro-relay into both the GWA feed to the 508d and the 'warn' sensor wire.

This allowed for an automatic remote-start Proximity disable (I have seen that the 'outer' bubble is a bit sensitive to vehicle vibration/movment during the remote start sequence) and a toggle based control that allows 'Warn On/Off, Full trigger ON' and full sensor disable for 'quet zone' situations.

You may want to diode out the triggers so that you don't throw ground back at one sensor or the other when they trigger.
