1) typically around 500-1000 ft realistically from people that have it... some claim more.

I get anywhere between 500-1000ft as was stated before just depending on where The car is and what is betwwen me and the car. One thing that helps distance I have found is instead of coiling the wire up near the brain I run it from the center of the windshield over to the side then back to the center then back to the side and then down it gets that extra wire up into the headliner and this  helps morethan you would think. Also is it behind any kind of tint or anything that might be blocking the signal. Also, which direction are you trying to arm it from a little more info might help someone find a solution for you hope this helps.

i got a 791xv installed on my 94 cherokee.... the antena is located behind the mirror.... (windshield), the range of the control is one mile aprox.,  if you desconect the antena, the alarm brain simply will stop communicating with the remote not even 10 ft near.... try with another antena, probably it's damaged

thats odd considering the 791xv advertises a quarter mile range... i dont think it would be possible to squeeze a mile out of it. The mile advertised on the 5900 is probably slightly exaggerated and i know from personal experience that the 5900 works MUCH further than the 791xv did..
