hi, im new to mitsubishis and my wife just bought one. the guy at the dealership told her that it had a passive alarm system. my question is that whether or not the lock/unlock remote meant that it was alarmed or not. if so is it just and ignition cutoff because we could not get the alarm to sound. thanks in advance for any help

A way to know if it has a factory alarm system is to roll your window down. Open your door and lock it while open, then close. Wait at least 2 minutes. After the 2 minutes you open the door. If it goes off then it has a factory alarm system. I would assume it would be the same in regards with locking it with the remote. Try it.

I've never seen a Lancer with a factory alarm (except 08s). That car doesn't have a factory immobilizer either, and if he said passive...........that is probably what he was talking about.
