I installed a remote start in a 2001 Impala and now when the car is shifted into gear the dash lights turn off. They are on when the car is started. The remote start works fine other than that. Thanks.

do the lights go out only during shifting?  What ign wires did you connect and to what parking light did you connect to on that car?

Yes. I start the car and the lights are OK. As soon as I shift into any gear the lights go off. They don't immediately shut off, they slowly dim until they are off. I used the wiring diagram on this site to wire it, but I will have to double check what wire I used for the parking lights. I have been researching a little here and on other sites, would not using a diode to isolate the parking lights cause this to happen? Thanks again.

Thanks for the diagram. I disconnected the parking light wire and the gear indicator lights are working, but the cluster lights are not. It is for my father in law, so he does not mind not having the parking lights flash for right now, but the dash lights are important.
