Hi all, first off I live in South Africa.. the crime rate it quite high over here. There is an new Asian Wolf company over here. They fit the alarms (which I assume the buy from America) and say they will fix them if they have problems etc etc. I've been asking them about there warranties after reading some of the posts on this forum.
I have a rather old car.. a 1993 volkswagen citi golf shuttle. It's quite easy to break into and some thieves did just that the other night. Now where I live this happens a lot and there is a serious lack of off street parking.. so I need something that will tell me that someone is doing this.
The car was parked just outside of my girldfriends flat not even 15 meters away.. I could even see the car from her window just.. but people are very noisy in this neighbourhood so you if you where to check after hearing every bang and crash you would never get any sleep.
I was looking at the Astra 777 or the 2009v2 with one of those radar modules attached too. Now I've heard some good and bad things about Asian Wolf.. like they rebadge Scyteks stuff.. and provide no after sales service in USA. I'm getting them to put it in.. I also plan on putting in a cd changer radio a bit later.
So what advice/opinions/experiences can you give me.They have offered me a discount if I get it done before the end of the month.. Thanks in advance for any help!!
I think this is the only thing on the SA (South African) market like this so my other choices are quite limited.

Hey! Also from sunny SA.

Have you tried Autowatch ( http://www.autowatch.co.za/HomePage1.aspx)?

I just wanted a proper keyless entry kit with all the extra functionality like domelight supervision, automatic door lock/unlock, window closure on arming the system, etc. Well, I tried Googling it, but couldn't find any South African companies (somebody else referred me to Autowatch afterwards).

After doing some research, I found that Directed Electronics was one of the US's most reputable car security companies. However, they don't sell to the general public; only approved installers. Many eBay stores do sell their products, but virtually none ship the products to the Dark Continent buying asain wolf alarms in sa? -- posted image.. Finally I discovered Digital4Cheap ( http://app.infopia.com/Shop/Control/fp/user/cmhowell), whose shipping rates are also reasonable. I ordered the Valet 712T keyless entry kit for $47.99, but you might want to consider the Hornet 742T alarm kit for $95.99. I think it ought to fulfill your requirements.

Well, my entire order (Valet 712T keyless kit, six Directed 524N door lock actuators, two Directed 530T window modules and Directed 8616 starter kill relay) with shipping amounted to about R2500 (the two window modules were the most expensive at just over $100), with customs amounting to R150. It wasn't really necessary for me to order the door lock actuators (you can get generic ones for about R40 each here), but I like to keep my installs uniform. I did the install myself - if you are too, you should budget on a few hundered Rands more for all the wire and crimping lugs you're going to need.

By the way, the system works fantastic!

I don't know about you, but the name Asianwolf just sounds a bit fishy to me buying asain wolf alarms in sa? -- posted image..

I bought an alarm from asianwolf.com I bout the asianwolf 8000RS which is the same exact alarm as the Scytek 5100RS. I totally love it. I have had the alarm for almost 2 years now. I am still on the first remote transmitters and first batteries. The alarm comes with 2 transmitters; a 5 button carbon fiber look 1 way and a 2 way 4 button LCD. I only use the 1 way 5 button because that is what I am now used to. The alarm was pretty easy to install and the range they say is 2500ft. I am not good with distances but I have gotten very long distances with mine. The good thing about the LCD transmitter is that you are notified if a thief penatrates your car. The alarm system also has remote start. Overall, I cant complane with the alarm system. I do know that DEI is a very good company. In my opinion, if my car did in fact get broken into, I would get rid of it. I just wouldnt feel the same about the car. Also, it doesnt matter how great a car alarm you have, If someone wants to break in, they will break in reguardless. But forget about that. If you want a great alarm, I would go with DEI.
