I'm trying to install it on a 97 gmc extended cab i got everything working door locks and unlocks the alarm goes off when it's supposed to but when it comes to remote start nothing like it wasn't even connected i have never worked with this kind of alarm does anyone know what i'm missing thanks.

Did you hook up to the right tach wire and get it programmed?  I can't remember how far back it goes, but I know a lot of the Chevy/GMC trucks had 7 white wires coming out of the ECM and 2 of them metered with an AC voltage.  However only one of them would work right as a tach signal.  Also, if the hood pin wire is grounded then it won't remote start.  Make sure the hood pin is working correctly.  If both of those are working properly, then use your meter to make sure all the ignition wires are working correctly.  It is best to test the factory wires themselves so you can test the integrity of your connections to them.  Let us know if you still have problems after checking all that.

did not connect the hood pin or tack wire i have a scytek alarm on a different car and didn't require it does that make a difference for this kind of alarm just wondering i checked all the connections and made sure they had what they needed when they needed. what i found out is that on the starter wite i inserted a relay that interups it from starting and from that i have a red cable that goes to the ignition as well and an orange cable that goes to the main box connected to a nother orange cable giving out -  and when it's connected it won't  even allow me to start the truck with the key and i disconnect the orange cable and i'm able to start the truck the red one makes no difference. if the tack is the problem where would i find it and i can do the hoop pin too if required

Only some remote start systems allow voltage sensing, and even then some of those you have to turn it on in programming.  I can't remember if the Prestige offers this feature, but should say in the installation manual.  Either way in my experience tach sensing is a better way to go.

i agree that tack is better but my problem is that i don't get nothing like there is no current going trough but i checked all and there good. I never installed one of these alarms so i just intalled the same wires i have on others but this one has a few extra but i don't think they are nessessary for normal function.

It wont start without the programming.  To program you must turn ign on and press the valet button 3 times.  Immediately turn off the ign and then press and hold the valet button.  Start the vehicle while holding the button.  Your parking lights will flash.  Release the button.  The parking lights will turn on for 3 seconds to indicate that the tach was learned.

take a meter and connect it to the the ignition wire coming off of the remote start unit. Activate the remote start does it show 12v. If yes and it stays 12v than cancel remote start, put meter on starter wire off of remote start unit and activate, does it show 12v as if it was trying to start the truck?

Also do you have the toggle switch for the remote start shut down connect?

As the others have said:
1. The toggle switch must be plugged in switched on.
2. The tach rate must be programmed, or if you desire to use voltage sense, must reprogram menu 2, feature 5, for voltage sensing.

I totally forgot about that dumb switch.  I always used to just ground that wire without the switch.

k tryied all of the above the tack is connected and programmed the switch is on b/c when it's of it says inhibit or something like that. I checked the ignition and start wires the lights flash and when i tested them both when activating the remote start they both went into the negatives between 1.5 and 5.8 don't know why and both of the red have power don't know what else to test i press the button with the key 2 times to try to start right that's what i found in the book.  any help would be appreciatted.
