Hi, this is my third remote start installation with the viper 791/5900... i havnt had any problems before but now im getting frustrated... whats getting to me is the small little harness that comes off the extreme capicity relay satilite. the pink, blue, purple and orange harness. what ive done before is use the purple one for a relay for my remote start, isnt it only suppose to be giving out 12v during remote start? i thought it was, but i checked out my old car where i installed the same thing but there is a constant 12v going through the line and relay, so that kind of confused me also on my old install.. like wth... how is this working kind of deal lol...

but anyways in this new install... i put neg on one side of a relay and tried all the different wires off the harness.... i first tried the purple one, nothing... well not nothing, it trips a relay withen the sattilite, but the relay im using isnt energized so im like... how is the loop complete... anyways i pressed in my clutch and my starter started going O.O i tried the pink one, the ign turned on... tried the orange one... acc turned on... wth.... everytime i complete the ground it activates somethign.. except the blue one.. which puts out .40v only when the remote start is activated. <-- is this a negative output?

any clues? is my XCRS broken? ill check on my other car if this is what happens but.. i dont think it did. also... the relay that i used wasnt energized... so im confused how the loop got completed./.... the pink, orange and purple ones are giving out 12v all the time.

those 4 wires are neg low current

purple- neg during crank

blue- status output neg during remote start

orange- neg output for accessory

pink- neg output for ignition

these need to be hooked to a relay to power starter, ign, and acc.

status is for a bypass module.

Those wires will rest at 12v. When you remote start they will put out a (-) signal.

Lets say you are trying to add a second starter output:

Wire a relay as follows:

86 - constant 12v

85 - skinny purple wire in the 4-pin harness.

87 - constant 12v

30 - output to 2nd starter wire in car

ok... i swear i just grouned the other side of the relay on my other 2 installs and they still worked o.o.

But anyways, why when i "complete" the loop do the follow thingy start up?

pink to gournd- dash lights up (ign)

purple to ground - internal relay clicks in the sattilite, starer goes

orange to ground - Accessorys turn on.

all the while the relay that i hooked these wires too, one side was on ground, the other side on one of these wires, that relay was never energized.. so how did it complete the ground???

You have to understand how the relay pack is designed.

The skinny blue, orange, pink and purple wires in the 7-wire ribbon cable go to the XCRS. Inside the XCRS those wires trigger the relays that power the Ignition, Acc., starter, etc.. Then those wires come out the other side of the XCRS in the form of the 4-wire harness.

Those wires when grounded will also trigger the internal relays of the XCRS. DEI did not isolate the output of the 4-pin harness from the input (7-wire harness) of the XCRS. DEI would have had to add a few more diodes inside the XCRS to do that.

You can actually start the car up just by using the 4-pin harness. Ground the pink, touch the purple to ground for a second or two and release. Then ground the orange wire. Car is now running. The second ignition wire is not powered up at this point, but that could just be done by grounding the skinny pink/white wire in the 7-wire harness. Also, you would still have to trigger any bypass modules installed.
