I am fairly new to installing remote starts as I have only done one before. I am installing a Python 871xp on a 99 grand am and I have it all installed but I need some help with the lock and unlock. How do I wire these. If anyone could help I would appriciate it.

It is a white wire at a black plug in the kickpanel. Lock requires a negative trigger, and unlock requires a negative trigger through a 1,500 ohm resistor. Must use relays. Must close doors to lock with a single pulse.

Have you used SPDT relays before?

If so (or if not), obtain TWO (2) SPDT 12volt 30 amp automotive relays, and wire accordingly:

UNLOCK;

85: 12 volts fused (5 amp fuse)

86: Unlock wire from r/s brain

87: to Grand am unlock wire (white wire at black plug in kickpanel -- use voltmeter to test this wire before making any connections to the relay!)

30: chassis ground --> but install a 1500 ohm (1.5kOhm) resistor between pin 30 and chassis ground

pin 30>>=========-------(((1500ohm resistor)))-------==========[chassis ground]                 ... like so.

LOCK:

85: 12 volts fused + (5 amp fuse)

86: Lock wire from r/s brain

87: to lock wire of grand am (same as UNLOCK wire above)

30: chassis ground (no resistor needed)

Lemme know if this makes sense, good luck.

The search function is your friend.

you could also find the lock and unlock relays on the drivers side of the dash and trigger those to control lock no relays needed you can also get trunk there i believe it is positive though
