I recently purchased a replacement 2-way LCD remote for my Prestige APS996A system, which I only utilize for security (not remote start).

How do I program this new remote to the Prestige system?

I have found the following on this great site, however I am not clear on a few things;

  • Do I have to program each function (lock, unlock, etc)?
  • Will it update the vehicle status on the remote to show locked, unlocked, etc?

I've also downloaded both the install and owner's manuals but I do not see that they explain how to program the remotes.

Thank you!

Open Door
Turn on car
press and hold the valet button for 15secs (wait for it to go past valet mode)then you should hear it chirp 3 times
press lock (you should hear a chirp indicating the remote has been programmed)
turn off car
It automatically programs the entire remote, so you dont have to program each button/function individually.
Yes it shows on the remote lock and unlock status

Thanks captain, I will give that a short ... shortly here.

So I have to wait until it goes past valet mode?

What's going to chirp 3 times? (remote or alarm)

I'll be responding shortly, going out at lunch to try.

Okay, unfortunately those instructions did not work for me :( I held the valet switch for almost 30 seconds and it never chirped and the LED light never went off.

I did find additional instructions on this forum, and it said to hit the valet 3 times which gave me the chirp but it the remote/transmitter is only able to unlock the vehicle with the lock button? It does update the status, I can check temp, etc but I can only unlock it?

Can anyone please help?

when i say chirp, the alarm siren chirps

you say that the LED remains on, that means you put it into valet mode while trying to program

go out of valet mode (turn car on, press valet button once, LED should turn off)

Try to reprogram it again, because thats the correct procedure.

The pressing of the 3 times you mentioned is for the older system prestige where you have to program each button/function seperately.

Nevermind, I called Audiovox support and they were able to help me straighten it out ... had to deprogram the remote and reprogram it again.

Thanks!

They had me go through the programming via each button, after hitting the valet button between buttons method.

Instead of the 3 valet presses to start programming, they had me hit the valet 6 times and at that point the remote was not working at all. Then they had me do the 3 valet presses and programmed it again and now all works :)

Thank you captain ... I appreciate your reponses and time!
