Well to start off I have a 96 mercury mystique, i am currently installing an alarm in it (waiting for new harness to arrive, recieved wrong one).

The car has 2 (-) door triggers, one for drivers side and 1 for pass side.  Instead of using diodes and what not, can I just use the courtsey lamp by the drivers foor well as a trigger, it supplies a ground when doors are opened or if the door handle is lifted (which I really want)... Do you think I can use the ground on the courtsey light for a - door trigger and will it work when armed before lights go off? I am skeptical on arming the car, because the courtsey lamps are on a timer for about 12 seconds...

Also if someone could tell me if it is possible to use the some supervision light(s) when the car is unlocked, like what the stock fob did, lights only stay on for 12 seconds or so, but my alarm doesnt have a dome light output.

That light is a great idea. specially if it's easy to get at! I believe it's the BLACK/ white.

Dome light supervision: you can use that same wire. The output from your unit will feed this wire a ground, and turn ON the light.

As far as arming, and it takes a while for the dome to shut off.....you might check to see if you can program the unit to "avoid" that. READ the install manual.

What are you installing!

It is really easy to get to.  My alarm doesnt have an output for "dome supervision", im going to try and find the stock relay tommorow and play around with it, maybe I can tap the stock relay wires to find the one that turns them on..

I am now thinking that I can have the system auto-arm 30 seconds after the last door is closed, this would work, but would be suckey if I left my keys in by mistake (but to solve that I can leave a key under the car).

I dont think the unit can be programmed to aviod the door trigger for an amout of time..  Im installing an ultrastarter 4265M, http://www.ultrastarters.com/4265.html

I talked to the tech, he said it doesnt have the dome light option, but he said I can use the dome light as a door trigger and the alarm will still arm, it will be fully functional when it goes off.  I guess ill find out how true that is when I install it.
