Hello, a while back I had a compustar 2way FM-AS installed in my 2005 dodge ram 2500 diesel.at the time the installer tied into the dome lamp instead of the door triggers,he said tieing into all 4 door triggers was a huge job.The downside is I have to listen to relays he installed in the dash "buzz" every time  a door is opened or closed(triggering the dome light, which slowly fades out causing the relays to buzz). Its been 6 months now and I cannot stand to listen to the relays any longer and explain to every single person who gets into my truck what that "weird buzzing noise is".How hard is it to tie into the 4 door triggers or is there another solution?I will likely have to fix this myself as the installer will surely be too busy since they already have my cash, thanks !!

It's not that hard for a true installer.  There are 4 wires total, 2 in each kick pannel and they have to be diode isolated from eachother.  But you paid for them to install the alarm system correctly, so I say go back and make them do it right.  And I'd recommend staying away from that shop in the future.  Who knows what other shortcuts they do with their installs.

Sounds to me that you might have a bad relay. That what i think. Dome light supervision is not so bad. I mean it is easier but door triggers are the best. I suggest you go back to the installer and get warranty services done. Have him double check his install and tell him about the buzzing noise.

I have been back a couple of times and he claims that thats the only way it can be done, hinting that if I want to be fussy and make him wire  into all 4 door switches, its going to cost me a bunch more money. The relay buzzes because as the dome light slowly fades out(dims) the relays are getting less voltage and start clicking. The remote start they installed doesnt work either, the truck turns over but doesnt start, although the remote start thinks it has started because my remote tells me the truck is running but it isnt, very nice in the winter up north when you think your truck is warming up but when you get outside you see it isnt running at all !

So he won't fix the remote start issue either?  I suggest talking to the owner of the shop about how they are going to resolve the problems.  If they refuse to fix them, then tell them to pull the alarm system out and give you your money back.  Then just go to another shop that will install it correctly.  We have a couple shops like that around us and people learn quickly not to go to them.  It's never worth the money they save.

It just totally amazes me, how a business with such POOR customer service, can remain open. wiz poor service spreads like wild fire. All of the reasons/excuses, you were given.... are lame at best!  Mr. Kephart has the best idea, see the manager, or owner, and politly tell him you need some customer service, and that you did not get what you paid for. If you still get no resolve.....you will need lot's of luck getting your $ returned to you. Sad but true.

If im not mistaken he may also have the relay connected improperly too.  This guy has so much info on how to find the door triggers in the internet and still wont do it?  Also for the other part. he has many options on how to make this work right..the list of solutions can go on..hell, tell him to look on this site for the solution and he will find it..GET YOUR MONEY BACK and go to a real shop.  If I were you I would ask the installer, would you want this problem in your car?????

They have agreed to rewire the door triggers sometime in the near future,Ill have to wait a bit to try and fix the remote start. Its a 2way FM-AS and I live in a small town so as far as installers go,you have to take what you can get!!Thanks for the help on this board,if not for the internet I would have had to accept the buzzing as normal as I was told.
