I have a 99 Mercury Cougar manual tranny with a Galaxy 5000RS alarm installed. I've been having a some wierd issues with the remote start for the last year or so.

I go to R/S it, the parking lights flash as if its trying to start, but it will not crank.  If I let it sit for a day then tried it again it would start fine.  Now it won't crank at all. It will still show the attempt but will not crank. Is it possible my bypass module has lost the program codes? Or even worse just went south?

Might be a good idea to check all the wiring connections -- doubtful your it's your bypass module b/c if that were the case, the engine would crank but not start -- or it would crank and start, and then immediately shut off.

Do the ignition dash lights come on?  Does it make three attempts at starting?  Do you hear the relays in the brain clicking?
