2004 gmc denali remote start

I would like to add autostart to my 04 Denali. I would like to be able if possible to keep the same remotes and use the existing alarm. Really more or less just want to add remote start to existing system. I would think there would be products that would use the existing system and require little or no actual splicing. Please let me know if anyone is aware of such a thing of any advice that might get me going in the right direction. Thanks so much!!!

yes thereare remotestarters that will add on to stock keyless systems. i would reccomend using a starter that has its own transmitters because range on stock systems are poor at best. all of your otions can be integrated into the remote starter as well as operating the factory securitySteve Sverdahl

Thing about add on remote starts and using factory remotes is that it has to deactivate your factory alarm to remote start.  During remote start your factory system is disabled which means that a door can be opened and the factory alarm wont be triggered.  Reason why this works this way is because if you dont deactivate the factory alarm before you remote start then the factory alarm will activate and the horn will go off.  Rest assure that when the remote start sequence is over then the remote start will reactivate your alarm system.  Not only that, but swerks makes a valid point by stating that the stock system transmitter range is poor at best(aftermarked has been proven to be far superior).  If I were you then I would go to a true professional and have a alarm/remote start combo installed.

Swerks and Enice are absolutely correct. The other point is that the factory system will ned a dedicated output or aux output to drive i.e. swithc on the R/S by a spare button or combi thereof e.g. door unlock and trunk relase. I've yet to find one that has this.

Well you can press the lock button twice and connect your remote start input to the lock motor that provides 2 pulses to turn on but remember that the range is poor.

Makes perfect sense what you guys are saying...I guess using an aftermarker remote in the mix would give much better range. Thanks for the input. First link is a cd on ebay... Second link is the wiring info on this site. I have put my share of alarms in but just want to make sure I have all the info needed to do it right the first time. I feel I could do it no problem with the right information. Another question please... I have been researching the GM-SL2 and the SL2i... One seems to be 1-way and the other 2-way data communications??? Which is my 2004 Denali??? 1 way or 2??? Thanks
