Has anyone installed an alarm on a 98 Acura 1.6 EL (Canadian Edition--high end Civic) All i need to know about is the trunk release (only has a button on remote)Nothing in the vehicle.
Thanks

I'm in the US, and the 1996-2000 US Civic never had a power trunk release.
But most other Hondas/Acuras of that vintage had a RED / white, positive trigger.......usually found at the driver's side fusebox, or in the harness going to the back of the car.
You could also just take a look at the power solenoid on the inside of the trunklid, make a note of the wire color, and then search for the same wire up front.
Regardless, the wire you want will test as a positive trigger, when you use the factory remote to open the trunk.

It's my thought that if there is NO push button electronic trunk release, there is no actuator in the truck , or trunk lid itself. (like my 2006 civic)

You need to install a trunk pop soleniod.  Here are a few diagrams and photo's of an install of a typical trunk pop.

Yes there is no button to pop the trunk from the inside, just the Pull lever. The alarm is located under the driver's seat, can't remember the color of the wire, but you have to 5 wire it to get it to pop..

The Trunk Release in a 98 EL is a Blue/Red(+) wire in the keyless entry control module under driver's seat. You need to cut this wire and use two diodes to isolate the circuits if you want to use both your factory keyless entry remote and your alarm remote to open the trunk.
