Had some free time this week so decided to mod my '99 Galant.

Current system is a scavenged (i.e. my alarm has failed, oh let's replace it etc.) Concept 300, new Intellistart IV (found gathereing dust in the purple box at back of stockroom in friend's store) and Intellivoice IV which I've owned on at least 2 other vehicles and refused all offers when it went out of production.

Placed a 10" Infinity free air sub in rear shelf (I need the trunk space for tools), amp no problems, oh while I'm running amp cables I might as will install a solenoid trunk release (hate bending down, was 61 last week) and disconnect front release. Never realised how hard it is to line up the 2 cables correctly. Thought I'd use  switch and through aux A on alarm, well me of 40 years experience, I wired the relay wrong (I'm half jokingly known as the relay King for my application and useage klowledge) and blue out the lock and aux circuits on alarm. Had to scavenge another.

On Saturday, I decided I wanted headlight flash on aux B and to bring on the indicators when R/S was running(Uk Cat 1 alarms won't give this function) H/light flash no problem, low current yel/black, neg pulse at switchwired back to alarm's (brown) indicator feeds from spare on remote start via 1N 5400 diodes for each side; no problems- except indicators came on with ign. OK  lets take the blue/orange from the I/Start and feed a relay from that circuit. Lets put an anti reverse onrush diode acroos the coil. Guess what, I cooked the ignition circuits on the  I/Start!! ’99 galant, cooked alarm -- posted image. Removed diode, placed a pair in line to the aux A & B from alarm and "borrowed" another from shop stock.

The  moral of the story is even if you think you know everything, PLEASE check all connections.

P.S. I hope knowone from DEI reads this as I'm going to get RANS for both units Monday!!’99 galant, cooked alarm -- posted image.

The moral is even when you think you know everything

I'm only 44, so I have a LOT still to learn.

And my sarcasm get's snappier with each year I grow older. Soon to turn into cynicism....... YES!’99 galant, cooked alarm -- posted image.

When and how, do you know your too old to do this type of work     ?

I just take my fosinopril, lovastatin, lamictal, cyclobenzaprine, clonazapam, celebrex, and of course my daily injections of humalog, and lantus.’99 galant, cooked alarm -- posted image. ’99 galant, cooked alarm -- posted image. ’99 galant, cooked alarm -- posted image. ’99 galant, cooked alarm -- posted image. ’99 galant, cooked alarm -- posted image. and everythings fine....
