I have just installed a new Viper 771XV that I bought off e-bay and the range just sucks! The lock and unlock work from a semi ok distance, but for the remote start I practically have to be in the truck for it to work..aka pointless. I went to my local shop and they tried a new antenna wire/antenna with still the same luck, I have tried brand new duracell's, energizers, camera battery's nothing gives me better reception. We tried a new remote (LED kind) and still same results. Has anyone seen this issue before? Is there anything I can do, or will I have to send the unit in for service?

i know whenever I have a range issue i double/triple check the ground. 9 times outa 10   the ground has way too much resistance. of course i am assuming that you have already checked the antenna wire for any kinks or cuts. test the ground with an accurate meter and if it is too high then start searching for a better ground.(the newer cars are getting worse for grounds)

I'll re-do the ground and see what that does. I tried a new cable and antenna so that was cut out as a variable.
