dei defroster output?

OK, so I just installed a DEI Viper SST system 5900. The only thing I can't make complete sense of is that it says it has a defroster output, but this wire is also the only wire that provides a - when remote starting signal. I have to use this wire with my 556U unit to bypass the Subaru Outback 08 2.5i's security. What I can't make sense of is, if I set this wire to work as the timed defogger trigger, it won't turn on until 10 seconds after the car remote starts, but it won't remote start anymore if I'm powering the 556U unit off the line as well. Why did DEI make the defogger settings if you have to power the 556U off that same line, don't they know that nearly all cars have chips in their keys nowadays? Is there another wire I can use or another way around this conundrum? I guess I could just let the defogger and wiper de-icer be powered the entire time the car is running in auto-start mode (I'm leaving it set to 12 min), but this seems kind of silly to me, there has to be a better way... BTW, I have the defroster and de-icer wiring set up with separate relays because they are separate circuits. I know wiring, I just don't get this alarm.

One other question on this alarm, it came with a "relay satellite" that interfaces with all the factory ignition wires, but the manual lists that a starter kill is optional? I had to cut the ignition to wire this relay satellite, so doesn't it have starter kill built in? I'd test it if I didn't live in the city, but three of my neighbors are cops and they jump when they hear alarms ringing (I like the safe feeling of having their cars parked across the street though!). I'll get around to testing it if no one knows, but I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me why DEI would make this device and then state that starter kill is optional... I just can't seem to find any schematics for it.

Starter kill is optional and would be the green and purple wire coming off the relay pack.  The purple would go starter side and the green would go key side(before you ask if you would have to cut the starter i will answer it with a YES)  There is also a very small ribbon that connects to the relay pack that has a blue wire that you would connect to the 556u.  This would free up the defroster wire a

If you had fully read my post, you would see that I stated that I cut the starter wire already, hence my confusion over why the alarm has another output wire, other than the one on the ribbon, that is for a starter kill...  As for the info on the ribbon's blue wire, thanks a lot, I hadn't thought to test the ribbon for a ground when remote starting wire, why would this run to the relay pack?

If you are talking about the orange wire coming off the main harness then it may be confusing but this wire can be used for other things other then the starter kill.  As for why connected to the relay pack part:  This ribbon has a second starter, third accessory and second accessory. and can be easily integarted as part of the relay pack.
