Hello, I have a 2004 GMC Sierra extended cab truck. I am installing Westin lighted running boards. I need to know where to tap into for power. I want the lights on the running boards to come on when I unlock the doors with the remote or when I open the doors. Then go out with the dome light. I have the wires running from the passenger board to the driver board, then there are 2 wires I need to get into the cab somehow. They are black and red. Thanks for any help.

I figured that. But, Where are and what color are the wires to the dome light?

Come on! Do you want to pay for me to come over and do it for you? Dome light will have two or three wires, one will be either a permanent gound or the light itself will be screwed to metal and there will only be two. The one that stays live goes to the red and the one that goes to ground when door is opened goes to black.

That's all well and good if I have the headliner out and can see the dome light wires. I need to know where they are under the dash.

Two options, safest is to wire up to them or catch them in the "A" pillar; look up your vehicle on one of the diagrammes here, use the seasrch button, find dome supervision wire and join black to this.
