hey, Im trying to install a starter alarm for my friends 1998 pontiac sunfire. I got all wires wired up correctly, so this is my problem. The bypass kit has a blue (-) input wire to trigger the bypass unit for passlock, however, the alarm has ignition 1 and 2, but no ignition 3 that can send a negative output. Is it possible i can just add a relay to make it turn (+) into a negative (-) or can i connect it to someother wire that gives negative during crank or run?

What unit do you have?

Youre on the right track w/ the changing polarity w/ a relay. Heres how:

86(+) from starter wire w/ a diode

85(-)ground

30- ground

87- to bypass blue wire

thanks for the reply, but i just probed the polarity of the relay wires. The bpass unit has one input trigger wire (-) blue. but the alarm relay, at rest, it stays at constant 12, and is switched to negative during start. If i connect the bypass (-) input wire, to my positive relay wire (at rest) will it damage the unit ? thanks. sorry if it sounds confusing

What is the make and model of the RS you are installing?

If you were to wire it to come on with the wire that energizes the ignition circuit you would have to isolate that trigger so it is only active while using the RS and not when using the key. It is easily done, but your system probably has the proper output just labeled different. For example, the DEI products label the wire as status output.

Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

Yeah you can do that. just simply connect the two w/ a diode so only negative can flow through.

Forget about my statement above, its not goin to work properly.

the remost start is by TLD (some cheap ****) from china, but hey it gets the job done and its 2 way pager for under 60 bucks, cnat go wrong lol. but i got it for free so watever. so, "isolate that trigger " do i use a diode? on the relay circuit that triggers the relays during rs? thanks Twelvoltz for filling me in

does anyone know how the bypass unit works? does the passlock activate during start or does it have to be on when ignition or accessory is on. Because, what i have tried is connecting it to the acc and ignition relay wire that energizes the relay and thatfails to work. I grounded the activation wire and it fails to start as well. but, when i tell the remote start to start, once the car waits to start, i ground the blue input wire from the bypass and it starts fine.

so my question, which wire can i connect the bypass unit to on my relay? the unit does not have a ground out when running or a bypass out. like i said before its some generic module. thanks
