i am thinking of doing some remote starters this weekend but im not sure if i should. i have done them in the past. about 8 years ago i did about 20 remote start systems for a different shop that i worked for in the past. what are the easier cars to do and what are the harder cars now days? what brand should i carry? thanks . any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I think most people will tell you to get anything made by DEI since they have a good reputation. We carry Code Alarm and Audiovox and have good results with them. You definately want reliable products, but at the same time affordable. Im pretty sure Code Alarm and Audiovox will be cheaper than DEI products, but then again...that depends how you buy them. The easiest remote starters will be the upgrades which work with the vehicles factory remotes. If the vehicle doesnt have factory remotes, then it might take a little longer to do. (Running wires to the passenger side, the use of relays...etc.) Im pretty sure most cars these days have immobilizers, so that will require more work too. Honda, Acura, Hyundai, Toyota...are pretty easy. German cars like Mercedes, BMW, Audi are harder to do.

A lot has changed in 8 years. Cars are far more technical so make sure you have good insurance.
