Hey guys,
I've been lurking for a while now and finally decided to register so I could post here. I've been installing a remote-start/alarm on my 02 Jeep Liberty and can't figure out how to hook up the trunk release to open the rear glass. I found the "ORANGE / PINK flip-up release switch (-)" wire, but it shows 12 volts constantly. I can't figure out what exactly triggers it to open the trunk. I'm assuming that you don't just dump it to ground through a resistor like you do with the door locks because nobody has mentioned anything about using a resistor to trigger it. I'm completely at a loss and would appreciate your help.
Thanks a bunch,
Andrew

hey man, if you go to your trunk and check out the trunk solenoid, ther should be 2 wires. there are 2 types to trigger. negative or postive

negative trigger. When one wire shows constant 12v and a ground is applied to pop the trunk.

postive trigger. when one wire shows constant ground and a 12v signal is applied to pop the trunk.

connect the negaive trunk relase on your alarm or RS to the ORANGE / pink wire at the BCM next to the fusebox. There is a gray plug. look for that ORANGE / pink and probe it so see if there is a ground when the switch is activated.

ORANGE / black in harness above the OBD2 plug. It's a (POS)+ trigger. 12 volts triggered to this wire WILL pop the hatch!
