2005 ford explorer

am i correct that a 05 ford explorer has negative door locks.  does thiis mean i can hook up my pink / YELLOW lock wire to the WHITE/ blue activation input on the 561t.  Im not %100 sure.  then i can just press my factory lock button twice and the car should start?

the next big question interfacing with the pats system.  which one will work best with the 561t and the 05 explorer?  can you decribe how to hook these two up or point me to some really detailed instructions.  i dont have experience w pats.

thanks

Just tag the negative door lock wire to the activating input, WHITE/ blue. You need to diode isolate from the switch bc you do NOT want somebody randomly activate it by the switch.
Use pkuf2. search on ebay. The setup is pretty easy, no key required to give up.
Can NOT give you a detail instruction b4 you purchase the bypass unit that you want to use.

This is how I normally do the Explorers. The Ford factory remote has decent operating range and you don't have to bother with running a wire to the passenger C Pillar to interface with the glass release. I use the WHITE/ blue + activation input to the actuator's lock wire (pink/black in the driver's kick panel door harness). I also set the unit to require 3 pulses, the first lock press of the remote does not normally sound the horn but the second and third do. This way if you forget if you locked the truck you will still have one horn chirp confirmation, the second horn chirp would let you know it is about to start.
For your PATS bypass I recommend the PKFF3 from bypasskit.com I have had a 100% success rate with these. They are inexpensive and available under many different names. The manual that comes with the PKF3 explains what is required in perfect detail, you can take a look at it here.

does this mean that without a diode, someone could hit the lock button on the door 2 times and the car wold start?  is that what the diode prevents?  coul you give a little more detail on how to do that?

A diode prevents the flow of electrical current. You can read a little on diodes here. If you were to insert a diode into that line it would block the positive or negative trigger from getting to the 561T all together, meaning it would not activate the system.
Yes, pressing lock on the door panel switch will start the truck, and for that matter if you have the number pad on the driver's door pressing the last two three times in a row will also start it (if set to 3 pulses that is). The only real way around this is to either add a remote controlled system that would trigger the activation input on the 561T or purchase a different system that includes remote controls. If you do not like the idea of being able to start it from the door panel a different system would be your best bet. The after market system should provide you with better operating range than the factory remotes too. If you were to change it to a different system and you can get Valet products the 562T, 2 remotes with dedicated lock and unlock buttons and an aux output for the glass release if your truck is so equipped.
