Hey, I am new to the forum.  I've searched for posts relating to my problem, but haven't found my answer.  I installed a DEI Valet in my 98 VW Passat, this is my third RS install.  Everything works perfect, except for the fact that everytime I remote start it, the battery light comes on.  I found that it's the alternator that isn't kicking on.  The charging system works fine when started with the key.  I did find that if I remote start it and tap the gas pedal to about 2500 rpm, the alternator will then kick on.  I can't figure out what's going on, and hoping someone here has possibly encountered a similiar problem and can help.

If you remote start and tap the gas it may actually shut down the remote start if you have the tach wire connected.  You may have not connected all ignition wires needed for remote start.  Always try to connect that for these vehicles and tach for a successful remote start.

I have the 2 ignition wires and 1 acc wire connected.  I actually got the wiring diagram from directtechs before they switched their site(I used to have a password from a guy I went to school with that installed at circuit city).  I also have the tach wire connected.  The remote start doesn't shut down when when the gas is pressed.  Everything works fine, except for the fact that the battery light comes on when remote started due to the fact that the alternator won't charge the battery unless the gas is pressed.  When started normally with the key, though, the charging system works fine.rs vw passat batt light, charging system -- posted image.

For the remote start you need the following wires below.  You have 2 starter wires.  By not timing the wires right on the r/s it could cause the vehicle not to function problem during r/s.

Red-12v

Starter-blue

2nd starter-blue

Ignition-black

acc-yellow/black

Is that, you mean

Starter-RED / black

2nd starter-blue

This may be my problem.

Sorry, and yes I did mean what you stated.  Make sure that whatever the key does when turned to the on position would be done the same way for the r/s.

Sorry, you can NOT post a reply.
