We did a r/s, radio w/ amp rewire, and 4 speakers in a 95 lincoln continental the other day and now the customer states that the speedo is reading 20-25 mph over the true speed. Is there anything that the r/s or anything would do to cause this issue? When I installed the r/s every wire I tested was the correct wire on the first try, i used voltage sensing, not tach, and everything else was pretty much straight forward. He is coming in this week for me to look at it... is there anything in particular I should look for? Will resetting the battery help to recalibrate it?
Thanks
Kenny

well duh... lol. I was jsut tryin to get a heads up on what to look out for. I cannot think of a single wire that would cause the speedo to miscalibrate... its not like i had to tag speed sense or anything... Everything was tested with a DMM and like I said, the very first wire I tested was the correct wire for everything.

Questions and observation,

Is the vehicle equipped with the proper gear ratio and tire size, as either of these can affect the speedometer operation.(in other words, has the vehicle been serviced by others????)

Check the vss as it may be that or the actual cluster itself.

i never had to tag the vss, so i dont see how the install would have caused the issue. I didnt really pay attention, but the tires seemed to be normal size, and I have no idea about the gear ratio.
