Installing a Ultrastart 1256M on my 5 speed 02' Sunfire. I have installed the PLXR unit to bypass my passlock II. I have connected all the wires - 2 to the wires under the steering column, one to constant power, and after programming, to the orange GWR of the ultrastart.

It does bypass the passlock II, however, my passlock II light and check engine light are now always on as long as the PLXR is plugged in.

Any suggestions on what could be causing this?

Also, any idea how to bypass the clutch?

If I remember right on the PLXR you need to hook up a wire to ignition and to your starter also. ignition should be the pink on the PLXR and Starter should be Orange. Its been a while since I've used one, so I might be wrong, but I would double check the wiring guide. If that doesn't work one thing I've had to do in the past especially with Saturns is hook up the keysence wire. It should be a green wire at the ignition switch that goes to ground with the key inserted.  Thats all I got off the top of my head.

As far as the clutch goes, the best advice is test the wires at the clutch  to see what happens when you depress the pedal. I'm assuming the remote starter you are using is designed to work with a manual tranny, if not don't even attempt it.

Thanks.

I think I have the clutch bypass figured out. The purple wire of the clutch goes + when pressed, so I am going to wire a SDPT relay as follows:

85- GRD

86 - neg GWR from remote start

87- + to clutch (purple)

30- + 12 volts

For the passlock module, I couldn't see a keysense wire, but will double check. Does anyone know if the sunfire does have one?

What about diodes Do you think installing them would work too?

ive done that year of sunfire on a manual tranny and you can lose that relay for the stater and just connect your R/S starter output to the side of the clutch that goes positive when you push it in by hand, your ebrake connection is right besdie the drivers seat once you pull the plastic trim off. look down through the ebrake handle hole to see its color and you will find it by the drivers seat, i forget what the color was. this way of wiring of course is only if you got a manaul tranny R/S!!! dont do this if you got an auto R/S too dangerous!!! the stater wire at your ignition actually runs right down to the clutch switch and when you push the clutch in it allows your keyed up starter signal through to the starter! i hope this helps. as for your check lights being on ive never seen that before. i dont know if this helps you or not.

M in 1256M means it is a manual transmission starter.

I have 2 starter wires coming out of the RS. One is the main, which I have hooked up to the main harness. The other is for a second starter. Is this the wire I should hook up to the clutch?

no second starter is for those few vehicles(nissan's) that have 2 starter wires. just use the main from your R/S and hook it NOT at the ignition harness but on the postive side of clutch switch that becomes powered when the clutch is pressed. this is your starter wire!!!
