okay. i would say sl3 is the easiest unit to program out there. well it wont program if u got the wrong wires. this is off the top of my head, but i use them often so it works

1) hold black progamming button

2) Plug in the Connector 1, (has 4 wires, RED,BLACK,BLUE,WHITE)
3) quickly Connect connecter 2, (has 8 wires, White plug - GREEN,BLUE,ORANGE / BLACK,ORANGE, ETC)

4) when the red LED comes on, LET GO OF THE PROGRAMMING BUTTON.

5) Place key into IGNITION then turn it to ON.
6) Unit will flash 10 times rapidly to show it has been programmed.
7) DO NOT REMOVE KEY until "KEY SYMBOL" in dash STOPS FLASHING

8) NOW you can remove the key and test remote start it.

good luck

well, do this, make sure you have cut the Security lamp wire and connected it accordingly. Now, the 4 pin harness, if u are not using the datalink feature, it should be cut and the only wires u are using should be red and black. Ground black wire, Connect Red to constant 12. Take the BLUE wire from the 8 pin harness and Hold it to ground, see if the red light goes on the unit. If its SOLID RED - its activated and programmed, OFF - not activated and if it FLASHES - it has not been programmed. If you accidently removed ground, then reconnected it, NO NEED to reprogram the module as the units are one time programmable i beleive. Just turn key into ignition and start the car, then turn it off. The SL3 will automatically reset itself and it is ready to go. If you tap to ground and it turns on (RED LIGHT) but during remote start it wont turn on and stay ON, its because the wire you used from ur unit is wrong. Please include what unit you have (alarm/RS units) and we can proceed from there. THe wire you will need will usually be called,

Ground out when running

Status output
Bypass Trigger
Bypass output

those are the names i have found/seen so far.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the advice, oddly enough I had tryed everything except taking the blue to ground Great idea.

But buy the time I got back inside to read i was able to get it going. I dont know if the way i got it to work is along the same lines as grounding the blue wire from SL3. What i did was to start the Honda Elemente W / key and W / the SL3  conneceted and then i unpluged the power & ground 4 pin plug off the SL3 of corse the LED turned off I then waited about 30 sec.and pluged it back in well this time the LED stayed  off. So I turned off the key and tryed to remote start it and to my amazement it started. So "what ever"  at least it's working and iam out of this Lake Tahoe blizzard. Thanks again.

np, i think thats the problems with honda sl3s they sometimes lag out on you and need to be reset befor working again. lots of people dont know about leaving it connected then starting with key to reset the unit. i noticed this after messing around alot to get mine working. After that was all good its been smooth sail on from there.
