Today was a pretty awesome day for me, not only was it me and my girlfriends one month anniversaryI have 2 new job opportunities! -- posted image. , but I also got two job offers!! First was a job at Office Max, which my vocational teacher set up for me as part of my internship. Although I will technically be interning Ill get paid and it will be just like a normal job, once the internship is over I will become a regular employee. Then when I was at my girlfriends house her mom was tellin me how she was talkin to a friend of hers a local car dealership, i guess they are looking for someone to work this summer driving cars, picking up parts and whatever else. She recommended me for the job and im supposed to call the guy about it sometime this week. If im getting good hours at one or both of these jobs it means I can finally quit the crappy dishwashing job I have now which I HATE!!
I would really like to pursue a career in car audio, but these jobs are pretty good for a 17 y/o and they hold me over until I can find a car audio place that is hiring.

CONGRAGULATION pimpincavy! Keep up the hard work, I think you will do well. About the dishwashing job. Don't hate it, but appreciate the life experience that you gain from it. Some people I have came upon in mylife does that for a living. It's not by choice, but rather by necessity. So, don't take things for granted, but value the opportunity that you have. Good luck!

I remember when I was a lot porter, I got to drive some of the coolest cars! I always thought driving was fun; now I drive an hour through southern Ca traffic to get to work every morning. Blah!
Tell the Snap-On guy I'm not here!

Even if you hate a job, do the best work you can.. remember how much you hated it though. Use that as incentive to learn and get better jobs. Impress people. Don't burn bridges.

I also have a couple job prospects.. I started out of high school as a mechanic.. got a job at a local shop through vo-tech auto shop. Did mechanicing for 10 years, had my own shop. Driving home one night got into a bad car accident. Went back to college and got a degree in electronics. Worked in the telecom manufacturing industry for just over 4 years till the 'Great Layoff' of 2001.. The newspaper reported that over 10,000 people in the electronics industry in my area were laid off; my company alone laid off over 1,000. Did the unemployment thing, and finally went back to mechanicing. Currently working for a local university as a mechanic on a research farm.. not exactly what I want to be doing, but the upside is that I get to play out in 'the big blue room' (outdoors).  Our fearless leader knows I speak computer.. so I'm also doing computer tech support. Not exactly in my job discription, but it looks good on the resume.

The job prospects.. last weekend I was approached by the manager of the photo lab at the local Sam's Club (warehouse store).. wants to know if I'm interested in working in the photo lab. I explain that the only reason I would be interested was so I could, as I put it, 'play with their equipment'.. he's OK with that.. this could be fun.

The 'real' job prospect.. installing and maintaining security systems.. automotive?.. nope.. residential/commercial?.. guess again.. Department of Corrections.. the prison system. they have some really cool toys there.

Give the place you're leaving notice; don't just walk out. Doing stupid stuff has a way of coming back to haunt you..

Didn't mean to jack your thread..

Jim
