I'm wiring up the 'Radio On Until Door Opened' diagram.
What type of Diode is necessary for the job?
I grabbed a bunch of these from the recycle bin on the shop floor at work. They're labeled 'rectifiers' .. I'm not an expert, but that's still a diode, right? Can I use them for this application?

yeap rectfiing diode is right. use the 4000 series. I usually use 1N4004, but 4002 or 4003 will work as well.
