Hi, this is a relay diagram activating a neon light when the interior door light comes on (door unopens.) The car is a Honda S2000 roadster.

Basically, I don't understand why 85 has to goto a +12v fused source. From the diagram 86 is already tapping into the green +12v power source.
When the door light becomes activated both 85 and 86 will receive 12v and cause 30+87 to connect???
Thanks.

The green w/spots door wire will show 12v with the door closed. When the door opens it goes to ground, and since 86 has 12v the relay will activate, connecting 30 and 87.

I guess the problem that I've having is that the green with spots door wire is already getting 12v from the fuse box. When the door opens, contact with ground is made and hence the light comes on.
Now if I add a relay. I'll connect a wire tapping into the green door wire to 86. If 85 is going back to the 12v fuse box, isn't that making a 12v closed loop? Is that ok to make a loop? There will be no voltage drop across.
Thanks for the replies.

I believe that since the green door light wire is providing 12v already, 85 should be going to ground instead.
Can anyone confirm this is correct?
If you look at this thread, he is almost doing exactly the same thing. http://www.club3g.com/forum/electronics/24422-how-fog-lights-turn-parking-lights-bosch-relay.html

The Diagram is correct except the Green wire is a Ground not a hot.

Here is the Diagram Redrawn so you can understand what is happening.
