I have a 791xv alarm and am trying to run solenoids for air ride. When I put a tester on the aux output (I tried the channel 2, 5, and 6), I got about 600 milliamps. When I plug it into the relay, I cannot get it to switch, and it drops to about 100 milliamps. Are there differet relays for different voltage inputs?

You need about 250-200 mA to trigger the relays. Make sure that the ground is good on the 791.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a good ground on the 791. I was finally able to get the relay to click this morning with a different wiring diagram for the relay. I have seen a few different wiring diagrams for relays. With the one that I used this morning, I was able to get the relay to click, it is just not putting out the 12 volts to the solenoid I am trying to control. What would the wiring be for a relay with 85,86,87, and 30?

to control the relay it's simple: 85-channel ouput. 86- +12v.

If you need +12 to your solenoid then 87 - +12v, 30 - solenoid

If you need ground to your solenoid then 87 - ground, 30 - solenoid.

make sure you fuse your 87 +12v input.

Hey Jeff,

Now I get the 600ma when the relay is not hooked up, when I connect it to the relay it only gets about 100ma. Does that make any sense?

Do you have a diode between pins 85 and 86 ?

You will have to excuse my ignorance, but I thought that was in the relay?
