Hi all,
I was wondering, would it be possible to adapt this 'special application' of relays - https://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.asp#rtol - to be able to turn lights on and off to the beat of the music?
The way I would do this is to splice a new wire onto one speaker wire, and use this as the signal lead (pin 86), and then the other pins will remain as standard (pin 85 ground, pin 87 12V and pin 30 to the lights).
Will this work?
Thanks

For one, the relay you are wanting to use has a coil rated at 12 Volts DC. The signal coming out of your amp is AC Voltage.

An electromechanical relay also won't work for this applicaiton because of it's slow switching speed.

You'll need an interface circuit that is triggered by the music (I would sugguest somehow tapping in to the low level signal, not the speaker output) and then controls either a solid state relay or a transistor output.
