Hey guys, I was curious if someone could give me some insight.

I am looking to to do 3 momentary buttons, but I need them to go from momentary to constant. I have the basics on how to go about doing that, but the tricky part is I need only one active at a time. Like if I press number one button, only that one is active. And if I press number two button it would shut off button one and turn on button two.

I am building a ride controller for my air bag setup and want to keep as small of a foot print as possible for the switch panel. If I need to have a box mounted somewhere else with relays and what not, that is fine.

I will already be piggy backing off the manufacturers controller because that sends signals via mini USB to a brain. So not gonna get into it that far. LOL. I am mainly going to solder my switch box to the circuit board of their controller.

I admit it will be pretty complicated and labor intensive, but with my car build, I just don't have room to use their controller and it doesn't go with the look I am trying to achieve.

There is alot more to the controller than 3 buttons, but figured I would break it down into small problems first.

I think that as you press the next button you will have to de-activate the first relay etc. Look at a car stero display stand, that's exactly how they are wired.

Radio Shack sells an Audio/Video switch. It has 3 sources, and the mechanism works just as you need it to. I know it may not be as high tech as you would like it to be, but would that be an option? There are 3separate poles on the switches. You can use one to control the controller, and another to power an LED to let you know which one is active.

Oh well, in true Radio Shack fashion, they seem to have discontinued the 3 source switch, but they do have a 4 source unit for 22 dollars. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productid=2049645

That never even crossed my mind to use a display switcher. I will have to check one of my old displays and see if I can break it down into something more simple.

The main issue with that is gonna be the size. I am limited to a 4.5" by 2.5" area to mount all my switches. I will have a total of 8 push button switches and 2 push/pull power window switches to fit in that area. I could always steal the switcher out of it and then wire it to my switches though.
