I am looking to hardwire my 12V radar detector into my 2008 Impala. I am looking for a source of switched power in the car. I am open to most any ideas, please just provide specifics to your answers. I think a relay in the ignition circut would be best I just dont have a wiring diagram to get me started.

I just wanted to add, robbing Accessory power from the RAP in the impala would also be acceptable, I just need to know how to do it.

Yes use a relay otherwise you will lock up the shifter by blowing a fuse.
86- brown ACC at ign cylinder
85- ground
30- 12v constant at the ign clylinder, i think it's RED / white
87- output to your radar detector + signal
Then ground the - end of the radar detector
