Hello i am new to this site, i am trying to add lights to the dome light system in my 2006 pontiac vibe, i want them to come on and go off with the dome light, especially when i am locking or unlocking the car, i have 3 wires at the dome light one seems to be ground one seems to be 12 + and one is 12+ except for when the light is on.I am looking to add 4 strips of LED lights to the system, any help in which wires i would need to use to get this times effect would be appreciated

Wire them in parallel to the dome light globe to imitate the dome lighting.
If only with the door open and unlock circuits, then you should be able to intercept their wiring to the dome. Since they seem to be typical grounding circuits, use a diode to each (band away from the LED strips) to ensure no feedback from one trigger/input to the other.
The +ve end of the LEDs goes to the dome's +12V supply.

Use the constant 12V+ and the wire that switches from 12V+ To NEG (GROUND) when the door is open.
The diodes aren't needed.
I have 8 LEDs in my roof lining doing that.

Oooo - that could be my bad... I was thinking if another circuit grounded the dome.
And to think I've been preaching ground-switching to negate the need for diodes!

It IS ground switched! Where do you need diodes here?

OK maybe in these circumstances:-

The second diagram is where there's an alarm.
If I was to diode, I'd actually do it on the power feed to the dome light.
Again, none on my set-up.
