I was just wondering how to wire the dei 451m onto the door lock/unlock control for a 2011 mazda 3? It has one door lock wire which has a negative lock, positive unlock output.

The door locks wires are actually both negative trigger. It is a 1-wire system. It requires a straight negative trigger to unlock the doors and a negative trigger thru a 1000 ohm resistor to lock them.
Depending on your application (alarm, remote start, etc), you could also use a bypass/door lock module from any of the major companies that will automatically do it for you (such as DEI, iDatalink, Fortin, etc).
To wire the 451m, you would connect the violet/black striped wire to ground. Attach a 1000 ohm resistor to the GREEN/ black striped wire. The other end of that resistor is connected to that single wire on your Mazda for the locks. Connect the blue/black striped wire to that single wire of your Mazda. The BROWN / Black striped and the WHITE/ Black striped is not used.

hey I wired it up using ur directions and when the GREEN/ black wire with the resistor was connected to the bcm side of the door lock wire and the blue/ black wire was connected to the switch side of the lock wire it would only lock with the lock button on the alarm remote but the doors wouldn't unlock with the unlock button. so I tried switching the two wires connections and now it will unlock with the unlock button on the remote but won't lock with the lock button. Any ideas as to why this is happening?
also when i let the car sit for awhile the remote only deactivates the alarm and wont lock or unlock the doors.

From the last post you still don't appear to have followed
shortcircuit 161's post properly.

By the sounds of it you cut the factory wire. You are not supposed to cut it. Just connect both the blue/black and GREEN/ black wires to the factory wire.

Kenny, that's why I posted the diagram, clearly showing a join not a cut.
