another drl relay project

Hi All, Recently joined the site because of the great info I've gathered so far and the little project I have on the go. Project is a 2012 Dodge Ram with an HID conversion. I don't want the DRL's which are CAN BUS controlled to activate the ballasts with low voltage, or at all really. I have maintained vehicle DRL's by installing a WEB Electronics module to light up the signal lamp filaments, these are working perfectly. The OEM DRL's (CAN BUS) are currently disabled by engaging the parking brake a click or so. This was a temporary solution and needs now to be dealt with. I was hoping to use a relay solution such that the headlights are activated on demand and not by the OEM DRL circuitry. Any suggestions? reset

I should also mention the OEM DRL's activate the high beam filament at reduced voltage. Cheers, reset

Bumpity bump Anyone??

You should be able to remove the DRL relay so you can manually control the DRLs with your own solution. Not sure you will get an error with the relay removed. When you remove the relay, you will see the slots for the pins the relay plugs into. You need to find the slot that the relay supplies power to, when triggered, for the DRLs. You will need to troubleshoot that. Then you can solder a male spade tip to a wire from YOUR solution, plug it into that slot (+12 V on at least 14 gauge wire), throw your switch, and the DRLs come on manually. All the relay does, is latch, and supply power to that slot anyway, you just want to do that manually.

hi, i think the 2012 Ram doesn't have a DRL relay. the diagrams i've looked at don't show one. DRL is controlled by the TIPM. mark
