about remote start

is it possible to make a remote start? i have a aux output (-) on my alarm, and i notice that the starter wire shows 12V when u turn the key to start the car.  does that mean i just have to tap a 12V current to this wire to start the car without a key? i was thinking about using relays to tap into the starter wire . also, is the ignition wire and the starter wire connected when u turn the key bcause i notice that the ignition wire shows 12V when the key is in and turned half way ( halfway i mean for the accessories and stuff to turn on), so i thought that the turning of the key might be the bridge for the 12V from the ignition wire to go into the starter wire thus starting the car?

BTW, what's the purpose of a timer on a remote start?

 Yes its possible to make a romote start but its time consuming and probally not worth it. in order to remote start a car the remote start module must supply power to the ignition wire and to the starter wire. as the module powers the starter wire it must sence when the car has started otherwise the starter will grind. the only reason the car stays running is b/c the ign. wire has constant power, keeping the motor running till voltage is lost. the remote start module will have an acessory wire output this is so the air will work while it is remote started. so in order for someone to build their own remote starter they would have to have a sh*t load of  relays to make it work but you still will not have the logic the the module would have...i could go on and on about why it would be better to buy one but i wont bore you so staight to the point.. it would be not only better but smarter to buy a good one. oh yeah and the purpose of a time on a remote starter is to start your car on its own when your not around (vacation,ect..) to keep the battery charged...but this is in no way the only reason for wanting a remote start module rather than building your own.

put it this way , you cant do it unless your a braniach who can program a board to do this.   you can on the other hand buy an add on remote start that will trigger from the negative output of that second channel on your remote i  did it. the only thing is that there is now way to have the remote start tell the alarm not to go off unless you add relays to either kill the alarms shock sensor something like that cause if you have a radio or something and you trigger your remote start if that radio was left on the night before it will mostl likely vibrate and st off the alarm cause the vibration in a car where a shock sensor is is more likely to set off a alarm that the vibration of say a truck goes by for help or info email me at djfearny2@aol.com
