recently i bought a 89 dodge ram 50, however the horn is not working. I've checked everything out and all seems to be in order and i've narrowed it down to a relay problem. simple fix right. well it would be but I can't find the relay to replace it, does anyone know where on this truck it is??

How did you narrow down that it was indeed the horn relay?

well there was continuity at the horn button and when i directly hooked up the horn to the battery they worked. now i'm no genius however that pretty much rules everything out but the relay.

Have you checked for a metal looking box which is also placed in the fuse box area for the relay?
Some of the relays are almost the same size as a fuse, and the other metal housing units are resettable thermal bi-metal fuses.
Check in the engine bay, as well as the interior for these metal boxes.
I would also ask you to varify that all the grounds are sound, amd that the wires to all components are sound.
In the steering wheel the hub core and the slip ring should have less than 1 ohms of resistance. If not, clean all contacts, and varify the continuity from the horn to the steering wheel.

Perhaps you should go the most direct route. Call up a Chrysler dealer and ask the tech's on duty to point out the location of the relay for you.

well I hate to say it but already did that as well, this is pretty much my last ditch effort, I even bought the repair manual for the truck cause it had electrical diagrams however the horn relay is not in it. so its now time to start looking through wiring harnesses and tracing wires.

Are you telling me the dealer cannot locate the said relay for the model year vehicle you have??
I would ask you to call a few more dealers in this case.
